Keratosis pilaris

Keratosis pilaris is a common skin condition in which a protein in the skin called keratin forms hard plugs within hair follicles. The most common location for keratosis pilaris is on the back of the upper arms.

Keratosis pilaris is harmless (benign) and tends to run in families.  It is a marker of dry skin and is more common in people with atopic dermatitis (eczema).
